  1. You have given me an idea for the hydrangia blossoms....they look lovely how you arranged them. Such a beautiful old house you have Ivan.....the fine woodworking and fixtures of these places cannot be found today. I see you have great light inside as well. Nice post.

    1. Hi Jim,
Happy to give any ideas! Thank you for your kind words, it is true they don't make houses the same way these days! We have renovated most thing over 13 years but still have things to do! We are very lucky and happy here. Have a nice weekend.

    1. Hi Ron and Miss. Sophie,
Aston (and I think Sophie too) is way more concerned to chase all the rabbits, so he has no time for conkers, they get in the way of the very important investigation. Thank you for your kind words. Have a super-doodle weekend!

  4. You certainly have a way with interiors. It's all very lovely. And you can cook! Our apples (we only have 4 trees) did absolutely nothing this year. Normally I'm picking thousands off the ground (most go into the compost), but not this year.

    1. Hello Walt,
Thank you for the flattering comments. 'I try' with the interiors but the backdrop makes it easier and I am a big fan of 'Farrow and Ball' heritage paints which are very helpful (they don't do a bad colour!). The apple crop is really bad but we still have enough to pick up! We always make cider for Calvados but not this year, as there are not enough to bother with, so we shall give them to a friend. Have a good weekend and enjoy your prune cake, looks good!

    1. Hello Harriet,
Thank you for stopping by and your kind words. The house has been a labour of love and takes a lot of tending to, being old but it's manageable. Wishing you a happy week!

    1. Hello Mary,
Only a week!! I actually get told off by my most of our family and friends for making them a few pounds(plus!!) heavier... I have my mother's 'feed gene', I can't help it! Thank you for dropping in and your kind complements. Have a fun Sunday! We talk often about doing a B&B, maybe one day...

    1. Hi Harriet,
Yes, you have to be 'Harriet la New Yorkaise'... No apples because the frosts killed off most of the flowers - so no fruits. I shall post more and address the balance with a bit more house/Normandy/life style. Thank you!

  10. I found your blog through Ocean Breezes blog and I am so pleased that I did. I have been perusing your recipes although it is still breakfast time here in Canada. I love your presentation of food. Very earthy and home cooked looking, but you just know it's going to be amazing. And then that peek into your living room. I want to just flop down in one of those gorgeous down seats.

    1. Hello Chania,
I am so pleased you stopped by - I joined your blog (via Ocean Breezes!) a week or so ago and have been reading it over the last week, loving your style. I was so touched by your story about 'ton pitou Balto', such a brilliant thing to do, I wish I was able to do that - one day. Happy you like my down chairs is see you are a big fan too. I just love plumping them up and sinking in them! I have so much food to share, so I hope you can find things you may like. I look forwards to reading more on your blog.
