Autumn drying...

We have had such a bad year in the vegetable garden, there is not a lot to dry our onions rotted but we managed to crop some shallots...
My adored fennel seeds are drying off inside and they smell amazing ...
Aston is never dry, nor are my arms if I am stupid enough to wear a T-shirt!!
Lot of tongue for a little pup!

  1. That's quite a lot of tongue for a little guy, and quite the gleam in his eyes.

  2. Ha!Ha! I know what it's like to get attacked by the "tongue". LOL! I'm sure Aston loves sharing his slobber! Your shallots look wonderful and I can just imagine how terrific your house must smell with your fennel seeds drying.

    1. Hi,
Thank you, I use a lot of shallots in place of onions, so they will be used quick! Aston is also called Mr. Lickie!!!

  4. I know I don't use shallots enough so am looking forward to learning how. But, doggie slobber is one of the best ingredients ever for the soul.

We love fennel too Ivan and will try to remember to grow it in the spring. And maybe try shallots too.

    1. Hi Jim,
Hope you are doing well, that doggie kindness is really the best! You have to give the fennel a go. I had the same six plants for three years but had to cut them down as they got so big and now have a new self-seeded section. Shallots are also worth the effort too! (I think I need to do a 'why I like shallots' post!)

    1. Hello Laura,
Hope you are well, I have to say more luck than judgement with Mr.wiggle-pug who only keeps still if he is asleep and then we get a lot of sleep running!! I shall do the shallot post for sure, I didn't realise it may interest people. We have your name sake coming over for a few day next week which will be nice. Have a great weekend also, we have a house full later!
