I get to go to Rouen about once a week and it is a wonderful place to wander about in. It is the capital of Normandy.
The 16th century court house (previously the Parliament of Normandy)
There are many narrow streets here with many small boutiques.
These two pictures are of the cathedral 'Notre-Dame de Rouen'. It is being renovated at the moment - construction started in the 12th century. There are a few paintings of the cathedral by Claude Monet, who lived not very far from here.
It's a wonderful city! Je conais La Baule, Paris, Touraine, and I worked babysitting when I was young. I lived with a wonderful family and I have good memories. :D
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteWe lived in Paris for a long time and shortly in Touraine in 1991, happy to remind you of your happy times in France!

What a lovely city. Rouen looks British, probably due to its history and proximity to Britain across the channel. The cathedral is magnificent and looks to be in need of a few renos......imagine THAT job? Thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteHi Jim,
DeleteIt is an interesting city with so much history - Joan of Arc namely. The renovations are always on going at the cathedral! It is looking cleaner of late! Have a good weekend, love your holiday photographs!

Beautiful. I lived in Rouen for a year way back when, and Walt and I have spent time there. I miss it.
ReplyDeleteHello Ken,
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping by. I am not surprised you miss Rouen as it is a lovely place with a lot to see. Rouen has had a lot of renovations since we first visited. I know the Loire Valley is also very special as we lived in Pontlevoy in 1991.
Have a good week.
