I was saying the same thing Sunday, why is it I only want a raspberry one (not that frequent!) and it is really related to childhood memories!! Hope you enjoy it! It is also getting cold here. Now you have a cake to go with your crown!
Best wishes IvanA Normandy kitchenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11793122018733990319noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5064283732773106138.post-91891787599635211922013-01-09T17:36:46.234+01:002013-01-09T17:36:46.234+01:00Hello Louise,

I wonder where the doll does originate from, I will have to try and find out the history. Have a good week.
IvanA Normandy kitchenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11793122018733990319noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5064283732773106138.post-84936171442263589122013-01-08T21:09:46.541+01:002013-01-08T21:09:46.541+01:00Dear Ivan,

I wonder if you could have some whole raspberries in there too or would they 'leak' juice everywhere?
With the almond mixture it is almost like a bakewell tart!
I am going to try my hand at making this.
I expect it is getting cold over there - it is certainly colder here today.
Kirk

PS
When I was growing up I made my own crown out of a wooden hoop, gold painted cardboard trefoils and large glass 'jewels'. I wore this on my birthday and tried to make my family treat me like the King. It worked so well that I started wearing it on a regular basis but then there was a revolt and I was back to wearing it only on my birthday...
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08642768891794895642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5064283732773106138.post-21323084123166385882013-01-07T20:52:03.622+01:002013-01-07T20:52:03.622+01:00This looks so good, Ivan!
Brushing the egg yolk ...This looks so good, Ivan!
Brushing the egg yolk on top must be what gives the pastry that gorgeous color. You have put so much effort into this post with your detailed pictures and directions! Thank you! I'm going to try this recipe. Maybe I can practice during the year, and make a really good one for Epiphany next - which in Newfoundland we called Old Christmas.

There are so many traditions around things cooked in a cake or pastry. I have a friend from Louisiana who makes a King cake with a figurine cooked inside it. In Louisiana the King cake is associated with Mardi Gras celebrations that last from Epiphany Eve through fat Tuesday.

Who knows - the tradition may have gone from France to Acadia (French Nova Scotia) to Louisiana (with the expulsion of the Acadians from Nova Scotia). I'm sure for most popular traditions there are many paths and sources.

I'll bet your Galette des Rois tasted even better than it looks! I'm sending a head scratch to Aston! Have a good one!Fundy Bluehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02132147630106183853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5064283732773106138.post-59786360156782027672013-01-07T19:51:11.729+01:002013-01-07T19:51:11.729+01:00Hello Marie,

She was the last of the litter and no one wanted because she was a little sick. But when she looked at me and I for her was love at first sight. She is absolutely, infinitely adorable. Yours also seems to be very, very sweet. Now I have to say this recipe seems delicious! And let me thank you for allowing me to post your recipes. Be sure I always put the links back because I always think it's a matter of respect for people. My posts always have a link back below them. Someday I would like to put the cookies recipe you made for dogs. And also I will test with my daughter. She loves making biscuits. They are suitable for dogs, aren't them? I hope my lovely little pug enjoy!! Thank you and best wishes, Marie
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18013537519016711009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5064283732773106138.post-63822453567689545402013-01-07T15:06:19.385+01:002013-01-07T15:06:19.385+01:00Wow, that is great.Wow, that is great.greenthumbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12067004547876814633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5064283732773106138.post-5628500721614333702013-01-07T13:26:47.949+01:002013-01-07T13:26:47.949+01:00I look forward to the day when I have the time to ...I look forward to the day when I have the time to make my own puff pastry.
